Installing

Downloads live at downloads.nimbitlabs.com/katari/latest. The filenames there carry no version, so a link to them keeps working after every release. A specific version is at downloads.nimbitlabs.com/katari/<version>/.

Linux

Debian, Ubuntu and derivatives:

curl -LO https://downloads.nimbitlabs.com/katari/latest/Katari-linux-x86_64.deb
sudo apt install ./Katari-linux-x86_64.deb

Fedora, RHEL and derivatives:

curl -LO https://downloads.nimbitlabs.com/katari/latest/Katari-linux-x86_64.rpm
sudo dnf install ./Katari-linux-x86_64.rpm

Anything else — the AppImage needs no installation and no root:

curl -LO https://downloads.nimbitlabs.com/katari/latest/Katari-linux-x86_64.AppImage
chmod +x Katari-linux-x86_64.AppImage
./Katari-linux-x86_64.AppImage

The AppImage is considerably larger than the packages because it carries its own copy of the libraries the others take from your system.

Windows

Download Katari-windows-x86_64.msi and run it.

SmartScreen will warn you on first run. The build is not code-signed yet — a certificate is something we have not bought — so Windows shows "Windows protected your PC" for an installer it has not seen before. Choose More info, then Run anyway.

That warning is about the absence of a signature, not about anything found in the file. If you would rather not take that on trust, verify the checksum first.

Verifying a download

Every release publishes SHA256SUMS.txt beside the files.

curl -LO https://downloads.nimbitlabs.com/katari/latest/SHA256SUMS.txt
sha256sum -c SHA256SUMS.txt --ignore-missing

On Windows, in PowerShell:

Get-FileHash .\Katari-windows-x86_64.msi -Algorithm SHA256

and compare it against the matching line in SHA256SUMS.txt.

Which version am I running?

The window's About entry in the native menu names it, and downloads.nimbitlabs.com/katari/latest/latest.json names the current release:

{"product":"katari","version":"0.2.0","released":"2026-10-11T08:00:00Z"}

There is no automatic updater. Download the new version and install over the old one; your repositories, settings and licence are untouched.
